What is THCa?
THCa, or Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid, is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in raw cannabis. It is the precursor to Delta 9 THC (Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol).
When exposed to heat (like from a lighter or in your oven), it undergoes a process called decarboxylation to convert into psychoactive Delta 9 THC.
In other words - if you heat it - THCa gives the same effects as regular THC.
Is THCa legal?
THCa, or Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid, is not listed as a controlled substance by the DEA, and it is not psychoactive in its natural form.
It is legal at the federal level in the United States when derived from hemp that contains less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC by dry weight.
Legality can vary by state, and it’s important to check local regulations.
Will THCa get me high?
Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid (THCa) is a non-psychoactive compound found in raw cannabis. It does not produce a “high” in its raw form.
When THCa is exposed to heat, it undergoes decarboxylation, converting it into Delta 9 THC, which is psychoactive.
Will this show up on a drug test?
Our THCa and Delta 9 products may cause you to test positive for THC. We recommend not using them if you are required to pass a drug test for marijuana.
CBD is not THC. However, some CBD products (like full-spectrum CBD) can contain trace amounts of Delta 9 THC, which could potentially show on a drug test.
It's always best to avoid cannabis products when you have a drug test coming up.
